About Open Gardens

Open Gardens WA provide beautiful and enjoyable open garden experiences, with an annual calendar of gardens and exclusive member’s events. Being outdoors in the fresh air, and admiring gardens is one of the safest ways to keep ourselves entertained, and continuing a social life while keeping a safe distance from other people.

Members get regular email updates, the first invitations to purchase tickets for exclusive events with limited visitor numbers, often at a discount, and a reduced cost for entry to open gardens. The membership fee helps cover some of our running costs, such as insurance and equipment with the balance of our running costs covered by gate fees and events.

Any surplus funds from our operations are allocated for donations to community organisations or charities with a garden theme, as stated in our Constitution and following the Australia Tax Office regulations for Not for Profit organisations.

Many of our open gardens have low water use areas, and some are inspirational for our warming climate in that they are designed around native and exotic plants that thrive with very little soil and only seasonal watering, such as Straw Farm, a garden in Swan View opened in November 2021 for a very popular ticketed event.

Open Gardens West Coast has team of enthusiastic volunteers that select and showcase the talents and dedication of Western Australian gardeners and designers through an annual program of open gardens, workshops and other events.

We welcome you to join in and explore the wonderful and varied private gardens which are open to the public in our program, and to volunteer to help us behind the scenes or at the welcome desk at the garden gate.
