About the Growmax Garden
On their 1.3 hectare site in Landsdale, Barbara and Max have created an extensive garden over the past 30 years. Shaded by mature trees both native and exotic, the garden is a haven for birds throughout the year. Camellias, azaleas and cannas are used throughout the garden, and a Magnolia Grandiflora provides a focal point in a border, with an oak tree as background.
Sweeping lawns are surrounded by mixed borders and mature trees including a Blue Cedar (Cedrus Atlantica Glauca). Lemon scented gums form a beautiful backdrop and a rambling fruit grove includes citrus, mulberries and figs. Closer to the house, formal courtyards offer peaceful retreats and three claret ash provide dramatic autumn colour. Bougainvillea and wisteria twine over arches and fences and lush under- plantings line the paved walkway between courtyards.
This garden has lots of space to wander – tracks are mostly unpaved but flat and easy to walk.
An area of informal wilderness has native plantings and some exotic specimen palms and the skillful mix of native and exotic demonstrates the ongoing fascination these gardeners have for plants.
