About Gray Garden
This 0.2 hectare/0.5 acre garden has various areas or ‘garden rooms’ that are linked by winding paths, steps and gateways. When walking through the garden, glimpses down pathways, through archways or between hedges entice you to explore. The garden includes English, Mediterranean, tropical and Australian native garden rooms and styles as well as a productive area. Natural stone has been used extensively and pots and seating provide points of interest throughout.
A large variety of rare and unusual, plus tough, drought resistant plants are featured throughout the garden, including hellebores, euphorbias, cyclamen, ranunculus, iris, geranium species, pittosporum, and natives.
Moving from a small garden of loamy, fertile soil to half an acre’s worth of gravel and rock hard earth has provided its challenges, but years of compost, mulch and organic fertilizer have improved the soil enabling plants to establish more readily and thrive. Read more about Gray Garden here
